At BLF Private Label, we support brands in the creation of bespoke fragranced products.

Today, we’re highlighting our collaboration with Maison Monravel, a young French brand with a unique positioning.

Context and Objectives

Could you briefly introduce Maison Monravel and its universe?

Maison Monravel is a French fragrance house inspired by the ancestral virtues of plants.

Founded by two women—an entrepreneur and a pharmacist—the brand draws on the legacy of botanist Louis de Montravel. This botanical heritage shapes an approach to fragrance conceived as a true well-being ritual. Each creation is designed to support four essential emotional states: energy, joy, serenity, and rest.

What was the objective behind this project?

The goal was to develop Maison Monravel’s first collection of vegetal candles, which represents the brand’s cornerstone.

It was not simply a product launch, but the creation of a signature object capable of embodying the house’s olfactory universe and ritual dimension. Each candle was designed as a true care object through fragrance.

Collaboration

What led you to choose BLF Private Label as your partner?

We were looking for a French candle manufacturer capable of meeting two essential requirements for Maison Monravel: impeccable olfactory quality and a genuine environmental commitment.

Our ambition was to develop a candle made from 100% plant-based wax, paraffin-free, using rapeseed sourced in Europe. BLF Private Label was one of the few manufacturers able to offer this formulation.

Their expertise, their ability to support a young brand with reasonable production volumes, and their understanding of our standards naturally guided our choice.

How did the co-creation phase unfold?

The collaboration was smooth and highly constructive.

Communication was consistent, and the BLF team proved particularly attentive. The various testing phases allowed us to progressively fine-tune the technical parameters to achieve the desired balance.

In which areas was BLF Private Label’s support particularly valuable?

Technical

Optimizing the balance between wax, fragrance, and wick to ensure a clean burn and faithful scent diffusion.

Industrial

The ability to support a young brand with appropriate volumes while maintaining the capacity for larger-scale production.

Human

A highly attentive sales team that understood the challenges of launching a new brand and proved to be supportive and flexible throughout the process.

Final product

The final product is a 100% plant-based wax scented candle, poured in France, housed in a refillable glass container handcrafted in Tuscany.

The collection features several olfactory signatures inspired by the virtues of plants from around the world, designed to accompany different emotional states. Each candle is conceived as a sustainable and timeless object.

What choices were decisive in the project?

Choosing the right manufacturer was essential.

BLF Private Label, based in the Loire Valley, has genuine expertise in the production of scented candles. Their mastery of rapeseed wax and their ability to carry out numerous operations by hand were key factors.

Their structure also makes it possible to support a young brand with adapted production volumes, while maintaining a high level of standards.

Were there any specific technical or creative constraints?

Yes. Rapeseed wax is a more complex material to work with than some standardized waxes. It requires precise adjustments to ensure an even burn.

In addition, Maison Monravel candles feature a very high fragrance concentration, with scents containing up to 90% ingredients of natural origin. Achieving the right balance between wax, wick, and fragrance therefore required particularly rigorous technical work.

The result is an exceptional candle, 97.5% natural.

Results and Feedback

How does this project reflect Maison Monravel’s identity?

This collection directly embodies the brand’s DNA: exceptional plant-based candles, poured in France using an artisanal and environmentally respectful approach.

What was the feedback after the launch?

The first collection was presented at Le Bon Marché and received a very warm welcome.

Feedback has been extremely positive, both regarding the quality of the fragrances and the sensory, well-being–focused approach proposed by the brand. Customers have also been particularly receptive to Maison Monravel’s commitment to craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.

Did this project meet your initial expectations?

Yes. The final product fully aligns with the original ambition: to create a refined, distinctive, and sustainable fragranced object.

Vision and What’s Next

What did you appreciate most about this collaboration?

The combination of technical expertise, attentiveness, and a true understanding of the challenges faced by a young brand.

Would you recommend BLF Private Label to a brand looking to develop a bespoke project?

Yes, both to brands seeking a partner capable of supporting a newly launched house, and to more established brands with high production volumes.

Do you already have new projects or developments in mind together?

New developments are already underway to further enrich the Maison Monravel universe and continue exploring fragrance as a sensory remedy.
